Abstrak            Prevalensi obesitas terutama obesitas sentral terus meningkat di dunia termasuk Indonesia. Obesitas sentral diukur melalui lingkar abdomen.

Abstract
The prevalence of obesity especially central obesity continues to rise in the world including Indonesia. Central obesity measured by abdominal circumference. The increasing of abdominal circumference potentially increasing blood pressure. The objective of this study was to determine the correlation of abdominal circumference on blood pressure in the employees at Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry and Faculty of Public Health from Andalas University. Observational study conducted on 92 employees consisting of 42 male employees and 50 female employees with age  of  24-59 years. Data was collected from the measurement of abdominal circumference and blood pressure directly. Univariate and bivariate data analysis using application program. Bivariate analysis using Pearson correlation test to determine the correlation of abdominal circumference on blood pressure. The results showed a mean of abdominal circumference in male employees by 84.50 ± 9.50 cm and female employees by 83.57 ± 8.98 cm. Research showed  14.13% of employees have high blood pressure (hypertension). The statistical test showed a significant correlation exists between abdominal circumference and systolic blood pressure in male and female subjects (p <0.01 and p <0.05), but there was no correlation between abdominal circumference and diastolic blood pressure both in the group of male and female subjects (p> 0.05). The conclusion of this study is the increase in abdominal circumference at risk of increased blood pressure.
