Focus and Scope
Jurnal Kesehatan Andalas (JKA) is a scientific journal published by the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Andalas, Padang. It serves as a platform for the dissemination of scholarly work, including original research articles, literature reviews, and case reports, within the fields of medicine and health sciences. The journal aims to contribute to the advancement of medical knowledge by providing an accessible medium for researchers, academics, and practitioners to share their findings and insights. Peer Review Process
Jurnal Kesehatan Andalas (JKA) follows a rigorous double-blind peer review process, ensuring that both reviewers and authors remain anonymous to maintain fairness and impartiality. Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two independent reviewers for originality, relevance, methodology, and contribution to the field of medicine and health sciences. The editorial team makes the final decision based on reviewers' recommendations. This process ensures the publication of high-quality, reliable, and impactful research.

Journal History
This journal was first published in July 2012, following discussions among the leadership of the Faculty of Medicine Dean Dr. Masrul, MSc, Sp.GK, Vice Dean III Dr. Afriwardi, MA, Sp.KO, and several staff members, including Dr. Sukri Rahman, Sp.THT-KL, Dr. Siti Nurhajjah, M.Si. Med., and Dr. Zelly Diarofinda, Sp.PK on May 1, 2012. It was decided that the Faculty of Medicine at Andalas University (FK UNAND) would launch an electronic journal named Jurnal Kesehatan Andalas (Andalas Journal of Health), with Dr. Sukri Rahman, Sp.THT-KL, appointed as its Chair. Initially, the journal aimed to publish research conducted within the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Andalas. However, over time, submissions from various other institutions were also accepted for publication.
Coinciding with the celebration of the 57th Dies Natalis of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Andalas in 2012, the journal was officially launched by the Rector of Universitas Andalas.
The Rector of Universitas Andalas, Dr. Werry Darta Taifur, MS, together with the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Masrul, MSc, Sp.GK, officially launched the Jurnal Kesehatan Andalas (JKA).
The Editor-in-Chief of Jurnal Kesehatan Andalas (JKA), Dr. Sukri Rahman, Sp.THT-KL, presented the journal during the 57th Dies Natalis celebration of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Andalas.
During the 58th Dies Natalis celebration of Universitas Andalas, Dr. Sukri Rahman, Sp.THT-KL, Editor-in-Chief of Jurnal Kesehatan Andalas, received an award from the Rector of Universitas Andalas for achieving First Place in the utilization of e-journals as a medium for publishing scientific papers in 2014.

In 2017, the Editorial Board underwent a regeneration process, resulting in the appointment of dr. Husnil Kadri, M.Kes, as the new Editor-in-Chief.
In 2018, JKA received the prestigious SINTA Award 2018 from the Directorate General of Higher Education (DIKTI).
